Is there an optimal tilt / pitch for solar panels?

In Geelong, panels tilted at roughly 30 to 35 degrees produce the most power across a full year. Flatter panels produce more in summer and less in winter, and steeper panels do the reverse. Most homes simply mount the panels at the existing roof pitch, as the difference is usually small. Tilt frames are mainly used on flat roofs.
