What Is an iStore Heat Pump?

An iStore heat pump doesn’t generate heat the way a standard electric or gas system does. Instead, it draws renewable heat energy from the surrounding air and transfers it into your water tank, similar to how a reverse-cycle air conditioner works, just applied to hot water.

Because it’s moving heat rather than generating it from scratch, iStore’s heat pumps run at up to 400% efficiency, using significantly less electricity than a conventional electric storage system to deliver the same hot water.

How much does an iStore heat pump cost to run?+

iStore heat pumps typically use up to 70% less energy than a standard electric hot water system, thanks to their high energy-conversion efficiency. Your exact running cost depends on household size, hot water usage and your electricity tariff — we’ll estimate this for your home at your free assessment.

Is an iStore heat pump noisy?+

iStore units run a fan to draw air across the evaporator, producing a low hum similar to an outdoor air conditioning unit. Correct installation placement (away from bedroom windows) minimises any noise impact.

How often does an iStore heat pump need servicing?+

We recommend an annual check, plus periodic inspection of the sacrificial anode, which protects the tank from corrosion and needs replacing as it wears down over time. Velocity Solar offers ongoing maintenance for every system we install.

Can an iStore heat pump run on my existing solar system?+

Yes. Running the heat pump during daylight hours lets it draw on your solar export instead of grid power, making your hot water close to free on sunny days.

What rebates are available for an iStore heat pump in Victoria?+

Three phase solar system just installed. Staff (Admin and installers) at Velocity solar were very prompt, efficient and knowledgeable. Being a registered building inspector I was amazed to see the electrician (John) use a spirit level to install the solar inverter and mounting board on the shed. Very happy I used Brad Ott and the team at Velocity Solar. I now have my new 3 phase, 40 kWh battery and extra solar panels added. The battery installation went smoothly and those I spoke with over the process were professional and knowledgeable. There was some delay waiting for the install due to import issues with Trumps tariff sage but communications outlining issues were helpful in understanding timelines. Logan and Brady were great and the wiring and final set up is neat and well contained.

We have just had Sigen battery and REC panels installed. We chose Velocity Solar because we had PV installed by them 11 years ago and knew they were not a fly by night operator. Luke took care of the design work and it has turned out really well. The economics were right to replace the old panels and the new REC panels look great. Velocity Solar handled all the rebate applications particularly well. The 32 kwh Sigen battery has capacity for all our needs and was a great price with the rebates. Logan, Bailey, Bodan, Tommy and the rest of the crew were a pleasure to have around the place, the finished job is very tidy and all completed in 3 days. Very happy with the result.
