GoodWe Inverters Wi-Fi Reconnect
GoodWe Inverters
(Applies to all GoodWe inverters with WiFi dongle and SEMS Portal app)
Before reconnecting, make sure your GoodWe inverter is powered on.
Check these two indicators:
- Orange LED on the inverter
- If the orange light flashes twice, the inverter is not connected to WiFi.
- Blue LED on the WiFi dongle
- If there is no solid blue light, the inverter is not connected to the internet.
If either indicator shows a disconnection, continue with the steps below.
1. Check your WiFi signal strength
Stand next to your GoodWe inverter with your phone and make sure your home WiFi network appears in the available list.
If the WiFi signal in this area is weak or not visible, install a WiFi extender or use a wired Ethernet connection.
2. Open the SEMS Portal app
Open the SEMS Portal app on your phone.
Tap Wi-Fi at the bottom of the screen.
Ensure the power icon for the dongle is active (showing that the WiFi module is powered).
Tap Next to continue.
The app may recommend changing the default inverter WiFi access password.
You can choose to update it later if you prefer.
3. Connect your phone to the inverter's hotspot
Open your phone’s WiFi settings.
Look for a network named something similar to:
Solar_XXXXXX (or similar GoodWe hotspot name)
Select it.
When prompted, enter the default password:
12345678
Tap Join to connect.
Once connected, return to the SEMS Portal app.
Tap Next.
4. Select your home WiFi network
In the app, tap the drop-down menu next to Wi-Fi Network.
Choose your home WiFi network from the list.
Tap Confirm.
Enter your WiFi password in the password field.
Tap Done.
If the keyboard blocks the next button, tap off the screen to dismiss it so you can see the Set button.
Tap Set to save the configuration.
5. Wait for the inverter to reconnect
Your configuration is now complete.
You can disconnect your phone from the inverter hotspot.
Within 30–40 seconds:
- The WiFi dongle will show a solid blue light
- The orange light on the inverter will change from flashing to solid
This confirms your GoodWe inverter is successfully reconnected to WiFi.
Troubleshooting tips
- If the inverter does not connect after setting the password, repeat the steps and re-enter your WiFi password carefully.
- Make sure you are selecting the correct home network.
- Ensure the WiFi signal is strong where the inverter is installed.
- If connection issues persist, restart the inverter and repeat the process.
