Ocean Grove has grown fast, and the housing shows it: older weatherboard beach houses near The Terrace, 1980s and 1990s brick homes, and large new estates on the northern side towards Wallington. Each needs a different approach to roof fixing, cable runs and switchboards.

Point Lonsdale, a few minutes along the coast, has more holiday homes and more exposure to the wind off the Rip. For both towns we use coastal-rated mounting and check whether the switchboard needs work before quoting, because older Bellarine boards are one of the most common extra costs we find.

Why most Ocean Grove systems now include a battery

Many Ocean Grove households are out during the day and use most of their power in the evening. A battery stores the midday surplus for the evening instead of exporting it for a small credit, which is why most of our recent Ocean Grove jobs include one.

How far do you travel to Ocean Grove?

Not far. Our workshop is in Moolap, about 20 minutes from Ocean Grove, and our own crews are in town most weeks. That matters after the install too: if something needs looking at, a local electrician who installed it can come out, rather than a subcontractor from Melbourne.

Do older Ocean Grove homes need a switchboard upgrade for solar?

Sometimes. Many older Ocean Grove and Point Lonsdale homes still have ceramic fuses or a full board with no room for new circuits. We check the switchboard at the free site visit and include any upgrade in your fixed written quote, so it is not a surprise on install day.

Is a battery worth it for a holiday home in Point Lonsdale?

Often not, if the house is empty most of the year. Solar on its own still earns feed-in credits while you are away. A battery makes more sense if you live there full-time, rent it out regularly, or want blackout backup. We will give you an honest answer for your usage.
