The Electric Homes Program Is Back
The Electric Homes Program is back for 2026–27, and we’re proud to be part of it again. Run by Geelong Sustainability, a local not-for-profit, it helps households in our region cut their reliance on gas, and every system installed helps it support vulnerable households and community groups.
We’ve been installing solar in Geelong since 2011. Our own crews do every job (no subcontractors), and we’re still here to service your system years from now. What is the Electric Homes Program?
The Electric Homes Program is a Geelong Sustainability initiative that helps local households lower their energy bills and move off gas. Geelong Sustainability has selected vetted local delivery partners for each upgrade, and Velocity Solar delivers solar, batteries and EV chargers.
Who can take part in the Electric Homes Program?
The program is open to households in Greater Geelong, Surf Coast Shire, Golden Plains Shire, Colac Otway Shire and the Borough of Queenscliffe.
When do I need to register?
The 2026–27 program runs from October 2026 to June 2027, and Geelong Sustainability asks households to register their interest by 30 November. Contact us before then and we will book your free site inspection and help you register.
How do I choose Velocity Solar through the program?
Contact us or call (03) 5243 8364. We will book a free site inspection, send a written quote with program pricing and every rebate you are eligible for, and help you register for the program.
What does Velocity Solar supply through the program?
We supply and install solar systems in 4 kW, 6.6 kW and 10 kW sizes (standard Trina panels with a Sungrow inverter, or premium REC panels with a Fronius inverter), Sigenergy and Tesla Powerwall home batteries, and Fronius, Sigenergy and myenergi EV chargers.
How much does solar or a battery cost through the program?
As a guide, the program lists solar from under $5,000 for a 4 kW budget system to over $12,000 for a 10 kW premium system, and batteries from under $6,500 to over $12,000, before rebates. Your price depends on your home and the products you choose. We give you a fixed written quote after a free site visit.
Are rebates available?
Yes, if you are eligible. Federal STCs, the Cheaper Home Batteries Program and Solar Victoria rebates may apply, and we show every rebate you qualify for in your quote. Our battery rebate calculator shows the current battery rebate for each size.
How long until my system is installed?
Solar, batteries and EV chargers usually take about 6 to 10 weeks. We’ll give you an exact timeframe with your quote.
Can I get heat pumps, split systems or insulation through the program?
Not from us. Velocity Solar’s program products are solar, batteries and EV chargers. Heat pump hot water isn’t one of our program products, but we install heat pumps directly, outside the program.
