Barwon Heads sits where the Barwon River meets the coast on the Bellarine Peninsula, connected to its twin town Ocean Grove by the historic timber Barwon Heads Bridge. The town is compact and walkable, built around a main street of cafes just back from the river. Locals split their time between the calmer river beach and the more exposed ocean beach on the Bass Strait side, a short walk apart. Golf is a big part of local life too — Barwon Heads Golf Club and the nearby Thirteenth Beach Golf Links both draw players from across the state.
