Geelong price guide · October 2026

As of October 2026, a typical 6 to 7 kW solar system installed by Velocity Solar in Geelong costs about $9,700. Solar with a battery of 27 kWh and over costs about $27,600, and adding a battery of 27 kWh and over to solar you already have costs about $17,000.

Every price on this page includes GST and is after the federal rebates. Where we have enough recent installs, the figure is what our own customers actually paid, not an advertised “from” price. For sizes we install less often, we show a market guide adjusted to our pricing, and we label it clearly. If you qualify for the Solar Victoria rebate, you could pay up to $1,400 less.

Good-to-premium equipment. These prices are for good-to-premium equipment: Tier-1 panels, quality hybrid inverters and leading batteries, installed by our own crews. Entry-level packages are not included. This is a price guide, not a quote.

Across our 26 recent solar-only installs, the typical price was about $1,440 per kW after the federal rebate (most between $1,260 and $1,640 per kW). Bigger systems cost less per kW, because the fixed costs of an install are shared across more panels. A 6.6 kW system on its own came in at about $9,400 (9 installs).

Solar and battery

Solar and battery prices in Geelong

Battery sizes. Our main batteries are Tesla Powerwall 3, Sigenergy SigenStor and GoodWe, and we can install most mid-range to premium brands on the market. Few of our recent customers chose a battery under 13 kWh, so prices for that size are a market guide.

Most of our solar-and-battery customers now choose 20 kWh or more. A bigger battery costs less extra than you might expect, because much of the cost of the install is fixed and the federal rebate pays most on the first 14 kWh.

How much is your battery rebate?

The federal rebate depends on the battery’s usable size. Our calculator shows the rebate for your battery and what you would pay after it.

Compared with the market

How our prices compare

Our prices sit above the cheapest advertised offers because we install with our own employed crews, use Tier-1 panels and inverters, and never use subcontractors. We have been installing in Geelong since 2011, with more than 1,600 installs. The ranges on this page already reflect that, so the price you see here is close to the price you will be quoted.

What moves the price

  • Your roof. Tin is quickest. Tiles, steep pitches and flat roofs that need tilt frames all add time and parts.
  • Storeys. Two-storey homes need more safety equipment and take longer, so they cost more.
  • Your switchboard. Older boards sometimes need upgrading before a new system can connect. This is one of the most common extra costs.
  • Single or three phase. Three-phase homes need three-phase inverters and batteries, which cost more.
  • Brand tier. Premium panels, inverters and batteries cost more up front but usually come with longer warranties and better monitoring.
  • Where the battery goes. A short cable run next to the switchboard is cheaper than a battery on the far side of the house.

Rebates in 2026

  • Federal solar rebate (STCs). Every eligible solar system earns small-scale technology certificates. In 2026 a system is credited with five years of output (the “deeming period”), which in Geelong works out to roughly six certificates per kW of panels, or about $1,500 off a 6.6 kW system. The deeming period drops by a year every 1 January until the scheme ends in 2030, so the rebate gets smaller each year. We take it off your price up front.
  • Federal battery rebate (Cheaper Home Batteries). Since 1 May 2026 a battery earns 6.8 certificates for each kWh of usable capacity, on a tiered scale: the full rate for the first 14 kWh, 60% of the rate from 14 to 28 kWh, and 15% from 28 to 50 kWh. At today’s certificate prices that is about $3,450 off a 13.5 kWh battery and about $5,150 off a 24 kWh battery. The rate steps down again on 1 January 2027. We take it off your price up front.
  • Solar Victoria rebate. Eligible households can get up to $1,400 off solar panels. Your combined household income must be under $150,000, and other conditions apply. Not every household qualifies, so it is not taken off the prices on this page.

Rebate rules change. Check the Clean Energy Regulator and Solar Victoria for the latest, or use our battery rebate calculator.

How we worked these prices out

Our own installs. We used 73 Velocity Solar installations in Geelong, the Surf Coast, the Bellarine and nearby areas between January 2025 and October 2026. Battery prices come only from systems installed under the federal battery rebate rules that started on 1 May 2026, so they reflect today’s rebate. We have no recent installs under 13 kWh under these rules, so for batteries of that size the tables show a market guide. “Typical price” is the median: half our customers paid more and half paid less. “Most pay between” is the middle half of prices. We left out builder and new-home packages and commercial systems.

Market guide rows. Where we have fewer than five recent installs of a size, we do not think our own handful of jobs is a fair guide. Instead we took the middle of the published 2026 prices for that size, put on the same basis as ours (GST included, after federal rebates, before Solar Victoria), and adjusted it by how far our prices sit from the market on the nearest size where we do have enough installs. For solar and a battery together, we adjusted the solar part and the battery part separately. For the solar-only guide rows we then set the figure a little higher, closer to our own pricing on nearby sizes: our own few installs at 10 to 13 kW and over 13 kW came in at about $15,100 and $17,300.

Common questions

How much does a 6.6 kW solar system cost in Geelong in 2026?

For a Velocity Solar install in Geelong, a 6.6 kW solar system typically costs about $9,400, and systems from 5 to 7 kW about $9,700, including GST and after the federal solar rebate (STCs). Most of our customers paid between $9,100 and $10,900. If you qualify for the Solar Victoria rebate, take off up to a further $1,400.

How much does a home battery cost in Geelong after the rebate?

Adding a battery to solar you already have typically costs about $8,600 for a battery under 13 kWh (usually about 10 kWh), $11,900 for a 13 to 18 kWh battery (usually a 13.5 kWh Tesla Powerwall 3), $13,500 for 18 to 27 kWh and $17,000 for 27 kWh and over with Velocity Solar, including GST and after the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate. Buying solar and an 18 kWh or larger battery together typically costs $26,900 to $27,600. Our main batteries are Tesla Powerwall 3, Sigenergy SigenStor and GoodWe, and we can install most mid-range to premium brands on the market. Few of our recent customers chose a battery under 13 kWh, so prices for that size are a market guide.

Are these prices before or after rebates?

After federal rebates, and they include GST. We have taken off the federal solar rebate (STCs) and, for batteries, the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate. We have not taken off the $1,400 Solar Victoria rebate, because not every household qualifies for it.

Why are Velocity Solar’s prices higher than the cheapest advertised offers?

Our prices sit above the cheapest advertised offers because we install with our own employed crews, use Tier-1 panels and inverters, and never use subcontractors. We have been installing in Geelong since 2011, with more than 1,600 installs. The ranges on this page already reflect that, so the price you see here is close to the price you will be quoted. The prices in this guide are for good-to-premium equipment (Tier-1 panels, quality hybrid inverters and leading batteries), not entry-level packages.

Will battery prices go up in 2027?

The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027, and again every six months until 2030, so the rebate on the same battery will be smaller. Unless equipment prices fall by the same amount, what you pay after the rebate is likely to rise. Prices on this page are for systems installed under the rules in place in 2026.
