Living in Batesford
Batesford is a semi-rural community just 10 kilometres west of Geelong and around 80 kilometres southwest of Melbourne. Known for its open landscapes, rolling hills, and close-knit community feel, Batesford offers residents a quieter lifestyle while remaining within easy reach of city conveniences.
The suburb is home to the historic Batesford Hotel, the tranquil Moorabool River, and popular walking trails, making it attractive to families and those who enjoy the outdoors. With Geelong’s shopping centres, schools, and services only minutes away, Batesford combines country charm with suburban accessibility — a perfect balance of space, nature, and convenience.
Batesford on its own gives us only three recent solar systems (all with batteries), so this is a regional figure for Geelong’s western and rural fringe: Batesford, Fyansford, Anakie, Bannockburn, Teesdale, Lethbridge, Inverleigh and Winchelsea. Across 22 solar systems we installed there from September 2025 to October 2026, the median size was about 10.3 kW, noticeably bigger than the 8.6 kW median across our whole area, and 21 of the 22 came with a battery. Solar in Batesford FAQs
Why are Batesford systems often larger?
Many Batesford homes sit on bigger blocks with large roofs or sheds and three-phase power. That is why recent Batesford jobs have been 13 to 15 kW of panels with three-phase batteries. Bigger systems also cost less per kW, as our price guide shows.
Can you add a battery to my existing Fronius system in Batesford?
Yes. Fronius inverters can work with a Fronius Reserva or BYD battery, and we have done exactly that in Batesford. If your inverter is not battery-ready, we can add a battery with its own inverter instead.
