A 16.6 kWh GoodWe battery added to the existing solar on a home in Bell Post Hill.

A local homeowner in Bell Post Hill already had solar panels and asked our team to add a battery. We installed a 16.6 kWh GoodWe battery with a 6 kW GoodWe hybrid inverter in June 2026.

The new battery is connected alongside the existing solar system (an “AC-coupled” set-up), so the home’s existing solar inverter stays in place and keeps running the panels.

What the homeowner wanted

To store the daytime solar the home was already making and use it in the evening, without replacing the solar system they already had.

What we installed

GoodWe 6 kW hybrid inverter (GW6K-EHA)
GoodWe battery: 2 × 8.3 kWh modules (GW8.3-BAT-D) = 16.6 kWh in total
GoodWe smart meter at the switchboard, so the system knows when to charge and when to power the house
New safety switches (RCDs) on the switchboard
A weather cover over the battery, at the homeowner’s request
A clean and inspection of the existing solar panels
Installed by our team: designed and installed by our installation team.

Results so far

From 1 to 19 October 2026 the battery stored 157.8 kWh of the home’s surplus solar and supplied 139.4 kWh back to the home, about 7 kWh a night on average.
