Are there factors that would increase the cost of a solar system?

Yes. The main things that add cost are a tile or very steep roof, a two-storey home that needs extra access equipment, panels spread across several roof faces, an old switchboard that needs upgrading, tilt frames on a flat roof, and a long cable run to the inverter or battery.
